THE PRACTICE IN FORESTS AND WOODS

THE PRACTICE IN FORESTS AND WOODS

The practice introduced by P.O.S.T.O. Água creates a bond with forests and woods, seeing them as examples of cooperation and interconnection between their different components.  Nowadays we are learning that plants have memory, strategies, and communication skills; that they use sophisticated systems of perception and response for foraging, protection or to favour the perpetuation of their species.  We know that within the forest’s soil there is a web formed by mycelium and roots, at least as rich as everything else we can see over ground.  With the understanding that there is intelligence in this system, we can cultivate a more respectful approach towards the forest, not focused solely on competition but on balance and cooperation.

“Drawing the forest trees as a method of connection is an experience that I will carry for my life.””

“It was like opening a window to see into another perspective.”

“I felt gratitude for what the forest was doing for our planet.”

“I felt part of the carbon cycle of this world.  How interesting all this is, how it works, all the things we need to respect.  I feel like I am in a place of more responsibility than before.”

“I had a clear sensation of being observed by the trees as if I were in the center of an arena. At that moment I felt part of nature.”
